Maymone Valentin immigrated to the United States from Haiti 23 years ago with a degree in Medical Lab Science.

Today, after years of hard work and studying English at the ABCD Adult ESOL Program at South Side, an ENB-supported program, Maymone works as a medical technologist at Boston Children’s Hospital. “Learning English changed my life…It helped me move on, have a better job and feel more comfortable wherever I go." She pays it forward by sending family and friends to the program. So far, two brothers, two sisters-in-law and many friends.

Recently, with so many immigrant parents and workers fighting to put food on the table, support their children learning at home and stay connected to their English classes through the pandemic, we asked Maymone to share a message of hope.  Listen to what she said:

“It’s very tough to know the language, but if you know what you want, you should not let the language put you down. Go higher than the language in order to move on.”

As we search for meaningful ways to pay it forward this holiday season, I ask that you make a gift to ENB. Help us ensure that immigrants like Maymone have access to high-quality, adaptable English classes and can stay the course toward economic stability

With gratitude and warm wishes for a safe and healthy holiday season,

Claudia Green

Executive Director
